What you can post
What goes out to Mastodon.
- Posts500 characters on most servers — more if yours allows it.
- ImagesFour pictures per post on most servers, or your server’s own limit.
- VideoOne video per post, within your server’s size limit.
The rules
Counted the way Mastodon counts.
Every Mastodon server can set its own limits. These are the defaults; when you connect, LimeGhost reads yours and uses them instead.
These numbers come from the same code that checks every post before LimeGhost publishes it. If a draft breaks a rule, the editor shows you while you write — not an error after the fact.
- Characters per post
- 500
- A 63-character link
- 23 characters
- One emoji (📈)
- 1 character
- A mention like @grow@mastodon.social
- 5 characters
- Images per post
- up to 4
- One video
- 99 MB
The default. If your server allows more, LimeGhost uses your server’s number.
Mastodon counts every link as 23 characters, however long — or whatever your server sets.
An emoji is one character on Mastodon.
Four is the default; your server’s own limit applies.
99 MB is stock Mastodon; your server’s own limit applies. A post carries either pictures or a video.

How it fits the week
How Mastodon fits Michael’s week.
Write
Jev writes to the server’s limit, from the same idea as Michael’s other channels.
Schedule
A quarter-hour slot in the project’s time zone; LimeGhost posts it and retries by itself if the server is briefly down.
Measure
Favourites, replies, boosts and quotes come in automatically, with the follower count, measured against Michael’s usual.
What it costs
Free to publish.
Publishing to Mastodon costs no credits. Credits only go on the AI work — a draft, a rewrite, an image.
FAQ
Mastodon, answered.
It works with servers running Mastodon. You type the address, sign in there, and LimeGhost registers itself with that server the first time someone connects from it.
Yes. LimeGhost reads your server’s limits when you connect — characters, pictures, video size and how links count — and uses those instead of the defaults.
A link costs 23 characters however long it is (or whatever your server sets), and a mention like @grow@mastodon.social counts only as @grow — exactly how Mastodon counts.
Favourites, replies, boosts and quotes for every post you publish, plus your follower count, read automatically. Mastodon doesn’t share view counts, so there are none to show.
No. Publishing is free. Only AI work — writing, rewriting, images — uses credits.
