In Settings → Plan & usage, pick the Founder plan before your first paid subscription. It's paid monthly, through Stripe.
Nothing else to do
When the Founder months are over, your subscription simply continues at the regular Solo price.

Questions, answered.
Your subscription carries on at the regular Solo monthly price. You don't need to do anything, and nothing about your workspace changes.
The Founder discount is monthly. If you'd rather pay yearly, you pay the Solo yearly price — already two months free — and your workspace carries the Founder badge for the same months.
Yes, at any time from Plan & usage. The Founder price is a discount on Solo, so the bigger plans are at their regular price.
No — it's once per workspace, and only before the workspace's first paid subscription.
Yes. Testers are offered the Founder price when their test ends, and they don't take one of the public places.
Then Solo is the plan to choose, at its regular price, with exactly the same features. This page always shows how many places are left.
Payments are non-refundable, including partial periods and used credits, except where the law requires otherwise. You can cancel any time, and your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for.
